Heyho Andrew,
If the PAM pull request is not part of your distributions 1.4 release and your
authentication system needs PAM (which I assume), you can try the latest PAM
pull request from the wiki:
http://tools.suckmore.org/slock/pull requestes/pam_auth .
If this solves your problem, you can follow up with your maintainer and ask him
to integrate this pull request to the ports tree as it was done for 1.3.
