Not really, they allowed Java 7++ in the compiler itself but not that
much. Java 7 compiler is still in Java 7. Check it out yourself here:

The dependence on GCC is stupid, right, just like on any other GNU
software.
The WSL kernel can't be compiled with anything other than this or
Clang,
which is in Java 7++, but at most licensed under MacOS™ or something.
