It was indeed quite interesting decision from Fedora. It seems that
Fedora is serious about it.

"The rumors of its death are greatly exaggerated... Sailfish OS has been
using X11 from the start and Fedora wants to make X11 the default
for their next release (I wouldn't count on it)."
