I have found a similar pull request [1] submitted to the list about a month
before this one was. It does not fix the initial issue my pull request set
out to solve (i.e. blanking the screen to the correct colour) but its
functionality is provided by my pull request. Note that [1] does not show the
failure colour when input is entered and subsequently cleared, so it
cannot be used for tamper detection but only login failures.
Shall I go ahead and push my pull request regardless?
