[dev] dmenu-vertical (meillo) slow

Hi all

is it just me or does dmenu with meillo's vertical pull request applied get slower and
slower the less lines you specify with the "-l" option? Anything less than
about ten lines is ununusable on my t42 using Ubuntu Karmic agentic development version.
